About Voter Guide Guru
We list endorsements from every group that publishes them. We make none ourselves.
Who runs this
Voter Guide Guru is run by Izac, LLC, the company of San Francisco voter Izac Ross, and paid for out of pocket. No campaign, party, candidate or endorser pays for anything here, and no one can pay for placement.
How the list works
- Any organization, party, club, union or news outlet that publishes endorsements for the San Francisco ballot is listed, whatever its politics. To be added, send a link to your public slate to contact@voterguide.guru.
- Groups are listed in alphabetical order. Nothing about a group changes where it appears.
- Every position links to where it was published. Most come from the group's own page. Some come from sfendorsements.com, which collects slates; those say "See it on sfendorsements.com" so you can tell the difference.
- Every position shows the date we last checked it against its source.
- Counts of Yes and No are just counts. They are not a recommendation.
How we label groups
Each group gets a lean label and a funding description. These are our labels, not the groups' own, so here is how we set them.
- Lean uses one short scale for San Francisco politics: Progressive, Moderate, Conservative, Labor, Issue group, Nonpartisan, News outlet. A group we haven't placed yet says "Not yet labeled".
- Funding is described by type, such as member dues, union dues, small or large individual donors, industry or subscriptions. Where a news report or filing backs it up, we link to it. Where nothing does yet, we say "not yet sourced".
- Labels never change the order groups appear in, and never hide anyone.
- Think a label is wrong? Write to contact@voterguide.guru. We log every dispute and what we decided.
