Privacy policy

Effective date: October 2, 2026

The short version

1. Who we are

Voter Guide Guru ("we", "us") operates voterguide.guru and its city sites, including sf.voterguide.guru (the "Site"). The Site is operated by Izac, LLC by Izac Ross, based in San Francisco, California. It is independent, self-funded, and not affiliated with any government agency, candidate, campaign, political party or endorsing organization.

Questions about this policy: contact@voterguide.guru.

2. Information we do not collect

We built the Site so that the most sensitive information never reaches us.

3. Information we collect

Information you choose to send us. If you email us, including to report an error, we receive your email address and message. We use these only to investigate the report and reply to you.

Information collected automatically. When you visit, our hosting provider receives the technical request data that every website receives: your IP address, browser and device type (user agent), the page requested, and the date and time. It processes this to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse.

We do not combine this information to identify you, and we do not build profiles of individual visitors.

4. How we use information

We use the information above to operate and secure the Site, to fix errors that are reported, and to respond to people who contact us. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to infer anyone's political views.

5. Analytics

We do not use any analytics tool on the Site. If we add one, we will update this policy first, as described in section 14.

6. Service providers

We share information only with companies that help us run the Site, and only as needed for that purpose:

ProviderWhat it does for usInformation it processes
Cloudflare, Inc.Hosting, content delivery, security, databaseIP address, user agent and pages requested
Email provider for contact@voterguide.guruReceiving and sending emailMessages you send us

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not disclose information to candidates, campaigns, political parties, endorsing organizations or data brokers.

We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a valid court order, or to protect the Site and its users from fraud or abuse. Because we hold so little, there is very little we could disclose.

7. Cookies and storage on your device

We do not use cookies. The Site saves the following in your browser's local storage so that it works as you expect:

This information stays on your device and is not sent to us. You can erase it at any time by clearing site data in your browser. Because it lives in one browser, it does not follow you to another browser or device.

8. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We do not track you over time or across other websites, and we do not allow other parties to do so through the Site. Because we collect no analytics, there is nothing further to switch off when your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

9. How long we keep information

InformationKept for
Error reports sent by email12 months after the report is resolved, then deleted
Other email correspondence24 months after the last message
Hosting and security logsAs retained by Cloudflare under its own policies; we do not keep our own copies
Filter and view choicesOn your device until you clear them

10. Your choices and rights

We will not treat you differently for making any of these requests. California residents may have additional rights under California law; because we do not sell or share personal information and hold very little, the steps above are how those rights are exercised with us.

11. Children

The Site is intended for voters and people preparing to vote. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

The Site is served only over encrypted connections. Access to the email account where error reports arrive is limited to the Site's operator and protected by sign-in controls. No system is perfectly secure; the strongest protection we offer is that we do not collect your address, your identity or your ballot choices in the first place. If a breach affecting personal information occurs, we will notify affected people as the law requires.

13. Links to other sites

The Site links to endorsing organizations, news outlets and government election offices. We do not control those sites, and this policy does not cover them.

14. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we will post the new policy here, update the effective date, and show a notice on the Site's home page for at least 30 days. Earlier versions are available on request. If a change would reduce your privacy, it will not apply to information collected before the change.
